Re: Sleep and Hibernate Fail with L1 caches
I always wrote off my problems getting a workstation running Primocache to come out of sleep correctly as "motherboard/driver issues". But I've experienced the same as you, around 3-4 years ago. I finally stopped using sleep mode and simply turn off the system now (using a NVMe boot drive with a L1...

Sleep and Hibernate Fail with L1 caches
Here's the configuration and history of this system: Hardware: i7-6700K, Sabertooth Z170, 32 GB (8x4) Trident 3200 DDR RAM, Win7 and Win10 partitions on 1TB Samsung 960 NVME in dual-boot, L2 for Win10 only on 256GB 960 NVME Seldom if ever use the Win7 OS these days. Win 10 is "up-to-date". The use o...

Hibernate and Sleep not working with an L1 cache for system-boot NVME drive
OK. It's "been awhile". When I last visited here as a forum member, I had just built my "super-system" and finished up with the Win 10 update (1703?) by mid-year 2017. The System Sabertooth Z170 motherboard 2x NVME drives: 1TB boot-system-disk; 256GB L2 caching disk; a 1TB SATA SSD and a 2TB media d...

Geez. I'm amazed. I started this thread -- when? -- in 2017? 36 threads up to May 2020. I haven't looked in on this forum for a while. I should renew my participation . . .

Re: Does PrimoCache work WITH Optane Software
I would say you can explore using "Optane Memory" with the Intel proprietary aspects. To do that, you need an Optane-ready motherboard. You don't say which it is. I have a Sabertooth Z170 S with the Skylake 6700K processor @ 4.7 Ghz, with no such advantage. Otherwise, PrimoCache could be a better ch...

Good discussion so far, and material for me to consider further.

Re: PrimoCache "Server" and drive pool under Stablebit Drive Pool
Finally got back to this thread, and I read your thread over at Stablebit. There was something weird in a positive way about the trial Beta version of PrimoCache Server. I am quite sure that somehow I managed to squeeze more out of it than the trial period. It had been showing 12 days left for the l...

Re: PrimoCache "Server" and drive pool under Stablebit Drive Pool
Here's an observation or two. It appears that the same glitch I experienced on the workstation with version 2.x.x arises with 2.4.0 trial server version. This resulted in a Stablebit Scanner warning of an "uncorrectable" error leading to an unreliable disk among the four Hitachi "refurbished" drives...

Re: PrimoCache "Server" and drive pool under Stablebit Drive Pool
I'm absolutely sure, that if you were asked, you could summarize the history of drive caching from 2011 and the Z68 chip forward. Even if I chose not to discontinue RAID configurations after 2007 with my 3Ware 9650SE card, you're stuck with one storage mode or the other (AHCI versus RAID mode) unles...

Re: Somthing toward a "sticky:" Suggestiion for a configuration discussion for various PC usage patterns
Here's the history of my extended building and improvement of a Skylake i7-6700K system as pertains to RAM decisions. I may have contemplated the choice between a 2x8 = 16GB RAM kit and a 2x16GB = 32GB RAM kit for about two weeks. And at that time, I didn't have plans for an NVME M.2 drive. I added ...
