Incompatibility with StarWind Beta 3

Post by stenrulz »

Hello,

Just been doing some testing with StarWind Beta 3 and PrimoCache 0.9.9 but it is not working. Primocache L1 cache free goes down from 4.5GB to 32MB, Defer-write is not working, etc. My test was with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 fresh install within Vmware ESXi 5.5.

As per the below URL the post/comments the older version worked fine.

StarWind comes with own RAM and flash cache which is distributed and synchronized between multiple nodes (safe because on node say rebooted there are many
replicas of the same cache blocks so no data loss, fast becase MPIO kicks in and gathers data from different nodes + cache is deduplicated if LSFS is used).
So what's the point of using StarWind with a third-party cache? Even if it would work...

PrimoCache performs better for RAM cache speed and caching ratio.

Did you run comparable environments (StarWind in a loopback with loopback accelerator enabled) or was PC running locally and StarWind over obviously slower network? Also
what benchmarks did you use to measure cache hit ratio?
