0.9.9

Post by stenrulz »

PrimoCache 0.9.9 is not working with only level 2 Cache and RAM drive. I understand this is not the recommenced setup but if Hard Disk Emulation drivers do not work some PCIe cards will not work as well.

PrimoCache allows you to format and add the cache just it does not save any data to the cache.

The RAM drive is setup to load before the windows page file and i also did testing with creating the caching once windows has loaded no reboot. Same result.

I tried this both on XP-32 and W8.1-x64. Using PrimoCache 0.9.9 and Primo Ramdisk Standard 5.6.0.
Caching the boot drive to the L2 RAM drive. It works. I get L2 R/W hits.

Beware that not all RAM disks are alike. Neither are all PCIe devices. Testing PrimoCache on a RAM drive is no guarantee that PCIe drive will also work. And vice-versa. PCIe and RAMdisk are totally different concepts so do not try to compare those.

+1 for Romex ;)

softperfect ramdisk does not work even with ticking Hard drive Emulation. Ram drive shows up in Primochache and able to format etc but cache always 0.0% hit rate.

Basically it's not our design goal to support ramdisk as l2 cache storage. Also it is not recommended to use ramdisk as L2 storage.
