Re: [2012-04-19] v0.8.0 was released.. now it's 3-2013

I do not understand why it is so hard to give us a status with the progress. Don't just said that it is being work on. Great that we know it is being work on, how about a little detail. Say something like this feature is being added and we can have a discussion about that. It is not so hard to do. T...

I wish they can give us an insight on the progress. It would keep us inform and interest in the fancycache. I have check here regularly for over a year. I stop posting b/c of lost lost interest.

Re: L2 cache spills over?

It been awhile that I posted here. If you enable write cache for the L2, then the bug will show. Read only cache does not do this.

Re: Ram usage

hello sparkler,

I can confirm with you on that.

Diskeeper will take up most of my ram when it defrag. As you can see from the disk activity tool with the monitoring gadget.

I will follow up with another screen shot when Diskeeper stop. Ram is free up afterward.

Re: Ram usage

mradr, I do know about the high ram issue when using Fancycache with some applications. Others had reported the same thing. In my case, I am targeting Diskeeper. It is the application that I use the most and hate it when it use all my free ram. Computer use different drivers and applications with ba...

Re: disk vs volume caching

Nice system.

One question? Would you run fancycache or raid controller caching system, such LSI Cachecade 2.0, on your system. Just wondering on people choice.

Re: Ram usage

Mradr,

Can you elaborate on what you just said? My system is different from yours and naturally will behave differently. I use Diskeeper 2011 with Fancycache. So tell me what is your system configuration is like?

Re: Ram usage

That is weird. But anyway, v.7.0 - v.7.2 will eat up all my free ram and Diskeeper would not release the ram once its finish defragmenting.

I just happy that v.8 have a different behavior. What ever was change in the code does the trick.

Re: Ram usage

Here my update to the ram usage when using L2 SSD and Diskeeper 2011 with version .80 I am pretty happy with the result. No longer during defragmentation does Fancycahe takes up all my free ram and making Windows 7 page out. During defrag the free ram hover around 1.5 to 2GB of memory left. That all...
