Am I living too dangerously?
All, Have enjoyed this excellent software for about 1-1/2 years. However would like some advice as to how to best configure it best for performance and safety. Here's my system. i7 10700 32GB RAM 250GB SSD C: Drive booting windows 10 8GB RAM dedicated as a L1 Storage cache space 500GB SSD with 420GB...

Is it redundant to allocate L2 cache for an SSD drive
Support, I am using Primo cache with a combination of SSD storage drives and a large 4 TB mirror raid drives. I'm noticing when they share tasks with L1 and L2 cache, that the cache apparently is active when I request data from another SSD drive. So it appears that PrimoCache is using SSD space in t...

Question about TRIM and whole cached SSD's
Support, I am using my 500 GB MX500 as a cache drive. I have set aside 50 GB as unallocated for TRIM space. Since there are no active partitions on the drive does the MX 500 automatically use this unallocated space without the intervention of Windows? Windows does not see the drive since it is not a...

Re: Looking for some guidance on configuring PrimoCache
Jaga, support, How much L2 cache is too much? With my 500GB MX500 I could dedicate the entire thing to cache my 4TB hard drive. That would give me roughly 20% of the drive's used space. Is that overkill or would that be useful? I am an avid photographer and do some light video work. But it feels lik...

support, This was interesting. My large 256 GB cash is really doing something. I mapped two files; a 64 GB and a 100 GB that are resident on my 4 TB raid as a virtual disks (E: and F: drives). It appears that PrimoCache cashed possibly the entirety of these files as I accessed individual files out o...

Re: Looking for some guidance on configuring PrimoCache
Jaga, That's interesting. I thought about setting up a separate task for my boot drive. But since it's an SSD does the setting up L2 cache space provide any performance improvements, since I would be caching and SSD with an SSD. Since SSD's have fast random-access and the RAM L1 cache is designed to...

Re: Looking for some guidance on configuring PrimoCache
Jaga, Thanks for the suggestion. However I am puzzled by something you wrote. You mentioned that you have 40GB established as L1 cache. Are you saying that you're using 40GB of RAM?? As for my L2 cache I have established 256GB of SSD free space for my 4TB RAID1 hard drive array. As mentioned my 32GB...

Re: SMART error using PrimoCache in Windows 10 1903
@support As mentioned in my last post I replaced my initial crucial MX500 Drive with a new drive. The new drive exhibits the same SMART warning “current pending sector count error”. The health of the drive toggles back and forth between 99% and 100% as mentioned before. In my opinion the Crucial dri...

Re: Looking for some guidance on configuring PrimoCache
Support,
That was very helpful. Based on your recommendation I decided to go to a 16K block size and 8GB of memory for my L1 Cache. This arrangement leaves me with 16GB of free ram. Thanks again.
