Re: Somthing toward a "sticky:" Suggestiion for a configuration discussion for various PC usage patterns

I'm surprised how this thread has grown since I started it. I'm using a 250GB Sammy EVO NVME for L2 caching, and 16GB of 32GB RAM. Nothing fancy about my configuration. I'm using 2.5" laptop spinners in my desktop for media files in hot-swap bays -- all cached under the L2 and an allotment of L...

Re: System seems sluggish with some apps when returning from Sleep Hibernate

I finally got around to trying the "pause" cache function. This is just one experimental trial with "Hibernate", but it seems to work. It's understandable that if certain programs' data-files are stored on my server upstairs, I have to close and then re-open those files. For Quic...

Re: System seems sluggish with some apps when returning from Sleep Hibernate

I might do that also, but I reviewed the cache settings for my 2TB SATA SSD and an HDD spinner. "Restore at Windows Boot" was not checked for these. They have an NVME L2 and 8GB of RAM L1. The boot NVME has L1 of 8GB, with the "Restore" checked. For some programs and files, I hav...

System seems sluggish with some apps when returning from Sleep Hibernate

I always enjoy returning to this community forum site. It appears that I started a thread a few years ago that continues -- the "something towards a sticky . . . " thread. There is so much stuff on that thread from other people, I need to study it -- I'll learn something. This is a casual ...

Re: Hibernate and Sleep not working with an L1 cache for system-boot NVME drive

I see that Support had replied to this, and I know I read the reply back in late december or early January. I wouldn't know exactly how many PrimoCache users and members have run into this problem. Somewhere -- maybe even here -- I'd discussed it with another member who had foregone using hibernatio...

Re: Sleep and Hibernate Fail with L1 caches

I always wrote off my problems getting a workstation running Primocache to come out of sleep correctly as "motherboard/driver issues". But I've experienced the same as you, around 3-4 years ago. I finally stopped using sleep mode and simply turn off the system now (using a NVMe boot drive...

Sleep and Hibernate Fail with L1 caches

Here's the configuration and history of this system: Hardware: i7-6700K, Sabertooth Z170, 32 GB (8x4) Trident 3200 DDR RAM, Win7 and Win10 partitions on 1TB Samsung 960 NVME in dual-boot, L2 for Win10 only on 256GB 960 NVME Seldom if ever use the Win7 OS these days. Win 10 is "up-to-date"....

Hibernate and Sleep not working with an L1 cache for system-boot NVME drive

OK. It's "been awhile". When I last visited here as a forum member, I had just built my "super-system" and finished up with the Win 10 update (1703?) by mid-year 2017. The System Sabertooth Z170 motherboard 2x NVME drives: 1TB boot-system-disk; 256GB L2 caching disk; a 1TB SATA S...

Re: Somthing toward a "sticky:" Suggestiion for a configuration discussion for various PC usage patterns

Geez. I'm amazed. I started this thread -- when? -- in 2017? 36 threads up to May 2020. I haven't looked in on this forum for a while. I should renew my participation . . .

Re: Does PrimoCache work WITH Optane Software

I would say you can explore using "Optane Memory" with the Intel proprietary aspects. To do that, you need an Optane-ready motherboard. You don't say which it is. I have a Sabertooth Z170 S with the Skylake 6700K processor @ 4.7 Ghz, with no such advantage. Otherwise, PrimoCache could be a...
